Hinawaju Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Hi, What is your opinion of this teppo? It is for sale at Bukowskis Auktions in Stockholm Sweden. Personally I think the gunstock looks very new. Follow link to the auction. Looking forward to your thoughts. https://www.bukowskis.com/en/lots/1083480-teppo-Japan-dubbelpipig-troligen-meji?from_language=sv Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 I have seen this one for sale before in Japan. My feeling is that if you have the money and a wider collection, then this could be an interesting additional conversation piece. In other words it carries a degree of risk. Are you wealthy enough not to be bothered however it turns out? For the new collector definitely not a safe gamble, IMHO. He says 'probably Meiji period', which is honest, and we know that matchlocks were no longer in use by then. We have not seen details of the inside, either, so my feeling still stands. Quote
