Hello fellow NMB members,

Im trying to kick off this new thread to showcase blades before and after being polished and any fittings / koshirae that have been restored to help other members to choose where to get work done but most of all for my own selfish interest in seeing the before and after pics as i always enjoy them with great interest and i thought others probably feel the same.

So I encourage members to please share there pics and experiences with us here.

Thank you.

Greg

Hi Greg.  I will work on this for some of the ones I have had restored.  The challenge is finding good "before" photos, as I tend not to take too many of a completely out of polish sword.

Echigo no Kami Kanesada.   Before photos.  As you can see, there was a lively conversation about whether it was gimei or not.  I am including one of the demonstrations that one of the NMB members made.  I can't remember if he thought it was shoshin or gimei, though I think the latter.

Thats the problem making good photos. I take a picture from roberts shots and go down with gama and brightness and see a lot things. Nice sword Robert.

Yes, everything is there an visible in the hamon - all the activity.  I don't really understand how kesho works, but when it is done well, it doesn't obscure the hataraki.  This sword is great in hand.  Let me know if you want to see it and go to the Chicago show and I will bring it along.

I would indeed like the "who polished it" left out of this discussion, unless the poster specifically wants to discuss that about any sword posted here.

I'm happy, the polisher sent me these two pics today he finished the blade. Now it goes directly to make a shira saya. And maybe, i hold it before december in hands.

I can only show the two pictures with before and after.
