vajo Posted August 26, 2018 Report Posted August 26, 2018 I owned from a friend these nice kinko tsuba. It reads masa 政 haru 晴. I tried to find the right one in Japanese kinko schools from Markus. There are some kinko artist around edo period signed this name. Any idea for which one? Quote
MauroP Posted August 27, 2018 Report Posted August 27, 2018 Hi Chris, wrong kanji: 政春 - Masaharu Mauro 1 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted August 27, 2018 Report Posted August 27, 2018 It should be obvious that this tsuba is not the work of Ichiguro Masaharu. Perhaps late Nara work? -S- Quote
vajo Posted August 27, 2018 Author Report Posted August 27, 2018 There are 8 or more edo period kinko artists who signs masaharu. So it would be nice to find examples to compare. Quote
MauroP Posted August 27, 2018 Report Posted August 27, 2018 The quality of this one looks quite comparable: https://blog.goo.ne.jp/tsuba_001/e/67ccd217b2d82b994aef092a14632f8d Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted August 27, 2018 Report Posted August 27, 2018 Chris, Your piece has absolutely no relation to the Ichiguro school, NONE! Also, last piece listed is akin but no match..... so there is progress. -S- Quote
vajo Posted August 27, 2018 Author Report Posted August 27, 2018 Steven did you take a look "The Japanese toso-kinko schools" from Markus Sesko? There are different schools with masaharu Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted August 27, 2018 Report Posted August 27, 2018 I am aware Chris, in a search for the correct attribution some "suspects" can be eliminated on the basis of signature and/or style. If you take a look at Ichiguro works you will see that they utilize a design vocabulary completely different from your piece. Keep looking, -S- Quote
vajo Posted August 27, 2018 Author Report Posted August 27, 2018 Yes thats true. It's not Ichiguro. Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted August 31, 2018 Report Posted August 31, 2018 Hi Chris, Found you two more Nara School Masaharu's for comparison. The first two were listed as by Genshosai Masaharu, the second two listed as by Masaharu of Nimura. Hope these help. Quote
