UnoKubi Posted August 8, 2018 Report Posted August 8, 2018 Could someone with the ability to post in kanji please provide me with the proper characters for kodai? I think I have them worked out, but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks very much! Darryl Quote
Pete Klein Posted August 8, 2018 Report Posted August 8, 2018 Ask Curran - he has an abundance of papers with that on them... 1 Quote
Curran Posted August 9, 2018 Report Posted August 9, 2018 Kodai = 後代 +1 to Ted. To date, I don't think I have ever had anything paper kodai. Maybe 1 Hoan tsuba? I've had several horai, but that isn't the same as kodai. Quote
Guido Posted August 9, 2018 Report Posted August 9, 2018 Both John and Ted are correct: 古代 = kodai = old or ancient times 後代 = kôdai (or koudai)= late generation 1 Quote
Guido Posted August 9, 2018 Report Posted August 9, 2018 That's why I always make a point of never omitting the long vowels Quote
Ted Tenold Posted August 9, 2018 Report Posted August 9, 2018 I find that when I drink enough, everything I say is a long vowel. 5 Quote

Ted Tenold Posted August 9, 2018 Report Posted August 9, 2018 古代 John Old Time John?? Guess that makes me Late Generation Ted! Quote
UnoKubi Posted August 9, 2018 Author Report Posted August 9, 2018 Many thanks to all, especially Guido. Greatly appreciated. I had the right 'dai' kanji, but the wrong 'ko.' Quote
