Claudio Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Dear sirs, is there anybody who has ever obtained a NTHK certificate for a tsuba? How does it work? Anybody could ask for an origami sending any tsubas or there are rules and selections and only the best ones can receive certificates? Thanks. Quote
Ian Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 I can recommend Paul Martin in Japan to submit your tsuba to NBTHK or NTHK, if that's what you want. http://www.thejapanesesword.com Quote
Claudio Posted July 27, 2018 Author Report Posted July 27, 2018 Thanks! Not at the moment: I am a newbie and not ready, yet: only for my information. Quote
Surfson Posted July 27, 2018 Report Posted July 27, 2018 Claudio, if you have a tsuba that you are considering, please post photos of it. You will get honest and helpful opinions about whether it is worthy of investing several hundred euros to get an attribution. In general, at your stage of collecting, I would not recommend sending your purchases to shinsa, as very few tsuba warrant being sent to Japan for appraisal. You can get lots of very educated feedback about your purchases here (though there will always be some disagreement that you will have to consider), and the price is right. As you educate yourself, you will get better in determining whether a piece that you have bought is special or not. 1 Quote
