0331_usmc Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Took a chance and placed a bid on this and unexpectedly won. Size wise it is 6.5 x 7 cm approximately. Would this be wakizashi size? It appears to be all copper and I am told depicts Daikoku and is signed Haruaki. I am guessing it is most likely gimei. Either way it is either an inexpensive lession in what not to buy or perhaps a decent beginners piece. Quote
Stephen Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Hi Tony I like it...as most copper. Was that on Ebay? Quote
0331_usmc Posted July 24, 2018 Author Report Posted July 24, 2018 It was, quite the gamble i know. Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Anthony, Haruaki Hogen is a big name , I suggest you do a web search and take a look at his work. Your tsuba though,as you say, most probably gimei is still an attractive marketable piece. I really like his sidekick. Cheers, Quote
Bazza Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Yeah, his sidekick caught my eye too. May be worth a re-patination by Ford Hallam??? A nice piece and I like it. Good punt. BaZZa. Quote
Stephen Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Im slipping ....a boot out ebayed me.....oooorah! Quote
0331_usmc Posted July 24, 2018 Author Report Posted July 24, 2018 Google showed me that Haruaki made some nice stuff. Aoi has a pretty neat Mount Fuji tsuba listed which offered a good comparision point. In my novice oppinion the signatures differ a bit. Still, I enjoy the carving (I thought that was the god of wealth not fertility) and really dig the copper. The re-patination is an interesting idea and I will have to do some research on that. I didn't know that was a thing until now. I hope I can sneak more out from under some salty dogs like Stephen. 1 Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted July 24, 2018 Report Posted July 24, 2018 Mike Y had one for sale some years ago that was quite amazing: http://tetsugendo.com/kodogu/FT-32_Haruaki.html 2 Quote
