Bazza Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 DELETED... Just re-read the subject question. Needs much more thought, but as a possessor of a katana by the nidai my take is gimei at present. BaZZa. Quote
Jean Posted July 17, 2018 Author Report Posted July 17, 2018 Jean, I cannot compare, I am on vacation, scarcely from time to time I can connect but cannot print or upload easily pictures, that’s why I ask Board’s members opinion. It took me 5 minutes to upload the picture in my e-mails and more than 10 minutes to make my post on NMB. I am not going to spend my holidays trying to upload pictures but for once rely on the Community. 1 Quote
Ed Harbulak Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 To me, the top of the kanji for Kuni looks too rounded and the O in Omi just doesn't look right. I'm inclined to think it's close, but most likely gimei. Does the workmanship in the blade look characteristic of Hizen Omi DaiJo? Quote
Guest Rayhan Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 I've seen a similar sword with mei like this, cut a bit rough and not as precise as it should be, almost forced. I'm saying gimei but blade pics would help. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted July 17, 2018 Report Posted July 17, 2018 The shape and Yasurime look like classic Hizen, however the Mei execution is quite rough. It could be a later generation Tadayoshi with Gimei to the first generation. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 Jean,I understand. The internet is always bad in the Caribbean. Bonne continuation! Jean,I cannot compare, I am on vacation, scarcely from time to time I can connect but cannot print or upload easily pictures.... Quote
Jean Posted July 18, 2018 Author Report Posted July 18, 2018 In fact I am between Cahors and Sarlat and my countryside house is not even elegible to ADSL... Quote
Guest Rayhan Posted July 18, 2018 Report Posted July 18, 2018 You're on holiday, I suggest substituting bandwidth for Bordeaux 2 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 19, 2018 Report Posted July 19, 2018 I suggest substituting bandwidth for Bordeaux Are you crazy?? Anyone who would forego Bordeaux has a serious teetotaller problem! Quote
Doug Posted July 21, 2018 Report Posted July 21, 2018 Hopefully Mr. Robertshaw will weigh in but I think the “chippy” look might be a trick of the light source as the mei characteristics seem spot on to me, albeit I’m without my books as well. If gimei I I think a very good one and look forward to different pictures and shoshin mei side by sides. Quote
