Who is Yamada? I assume a famous name if he's worthy of being faked.

Yamada is a common family name, not the name of a specific swordsmith. I cannot recall a surname carved this way in hiragana in an authentic sword I have seen.

I have no doubt at all this will be a Chinese fake.
Would be glad to be proven wrong, but like Ray...you get this instant feeling and all the bad signs are there.
Serial on habaki is a general no-no. As is poorly done kanji on a blade. No smith signature will be done like that on the blade. Habaki not well done, and signs of one of those Chinese fake hada.
Let's see more.

I specifically said "done like that..."

There is a big difference between a sword well signed on the blade (like some Kaifu swords) and this one, signed like the guy was holding the tagane in his mouth.
