Walter Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I have a wakizaschi by Sukesada. Recently have "discovered" that the fuchi is signed - Anyone could translate the signature, please? Thank you in advance. Walter Quote
Nobody Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 The mei reads Seijo (清乗). Maybe one of Goto school. However, I do not know if it is genuine or not. Quote

How to determine if it's genuine or not? Any hint? It's matching, silver (think so) set fuchi/kashira with peony pattern: Quote
drbvac Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 The finish on the surface with the signature as well as how it is attatched to the oval collar looks a little rough to be not a repro but maybe this artist finished the unseen parts like this. Wouldnt bet on it though! Quote
Brian Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 I think we can safely rule out Goto school from this one? The question is, are there others signing Seijo or is this just a gimei on silver fittings? Brian Quote
