Question for the group.

I have a set of NBTHK papers for a Tokubetsu Hozon Yagyu Tsuba.  I recently noticed that the punched Kanji over the serial number denote hozon and not T.H..  Given the tsuba itself and the rest of the description on the papers I'm thinking this is a clerical error.

Anyone have any other explanations?

In the photo of the punched kanji the lower set is the Yagyu papers compared against another set of T.H. papers.

Thanks

Jeff J

Um, that's kind of a big "oops", as that's supposed to be a major security feature...  Did you ping the NBTHK and see if what they have on record for the piece matches your piece?  I don't mean to make that sound easy (as I have no clue how to go about it myself), but in the past there were a bunch 'o cases of papers not matching the NB's records apparently due to some kind of nefarious activity.

I'm having CRS on what the exact scam was - maybe somebody else who still has a memory of the er, problem would like to take the time to recount it?

Best,

I would suggest you get in contact with Paul Martin about this as he is an agent in Japan, is well connected there and would most likely know how to handle it and / or who to go to.

Maybe my is just stupid question.

Does exist an on line database of the NBTHK papers for consultation?

It would be of great help to spot the "problems" of above!
