Dave4691 Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 I have been unable to find anything about this sword. Its been a lot harder than I thought Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 A sword made by Masakata. 武刎住正方 He is from Musashi. Is 武刎 a form of 武藏 ? John Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 BTW, This sword looks damaged, hopefully it is the angle photo'd and if this is by Masayoshi (2nd gen) 正儀 using the Masakata name, this will be a worthwhile find. He was, along with Taikei Naotane, Suishinshi Masahide's best students. John Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 The pics are not so good, and I thought maybe really damaged. With a name this big though?, very likely something other. You are probably right though. John Quote
Dave4691 Posted May 16, 2018 Author Report Posted May 16, 2018 Thanks for the info. Sorry for bad photos I will add a few more. The sword was given to me from a good friend who they had been passed down by his mother.(I say they as he has a few others) Quote
Grey Doffin Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 As I said on your other post, this is a fake. Grey Quote

John A Stuart Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 Ah, come on now. All I saw was the pics in this thread, not the subsequent ones which are more than obvious. I do have maybe too much optimism though. Ah well, the glasses may have helped. John Quote
Jean Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 Know that I am with you John through this ordeal against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 Haaaa! Jean. Yes, whether it is this swords right to be or not to be, that is the question. John 1 Quote
Jean Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 Doesn’t matter John, I know that by opposing we can end them Quote
Brian Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 John...4th pic in this thread...the kissaki! :rotfl: Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 Yes, Brian. My first thought was broken and amateur repair. From the pics here, those 4, the nakago patina should have clued me in. I was more interested in the mei, and paid more attention to why 刎 was used instead of 藏 That made no sense to me, and was a riddle to solve. John 2 Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted May 17, 2018 Report Posted May 17, 2018 Stop bashing my friend John. . One mistake every one hundred advices is more than acceptable percentage. 1 Quote
