Sayagaki Help Please

This one is a bit of a challenge for me.  The top part is hard, the lower part  I can make out ChoShu Ju Ni ?????  Kiyo Zai Mei   

 

any suggestion appreciated

It is Choshu ju Nio Kiyoaki kitae 長州住二王方清在鍛 I am not sure what 方 is about though. John

方 has the reading of Masa.

 

二王方清 - Nio Masakiyo.

 

Appears there were three generations of smiths in Choshu using this mei (Shinto).

 

I agree with the end of the translation in post #1. 在銘 = Zai-mei.

I'll take your word for it, but you guys are seeing things that I don't in this sayagaki. You may be right, but you also may want to get your water tested.

It seems to be Chinese (the phrase, I mean, not the sword).

I haven't a clue as to what it means.

It seems to me to mean something like, it can be respectfully submitted as being a distinct or faithful example of the category. So, a good example, I suppose. John

Thanks for the insights, i have a better idea now and can do some research. I will watch for that Masa kanji again, don't think i have run across it before
