vajo Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I read this star stamped mei mori mitsu kore saku.Is it correct? 筑 後 住 盛 光 之 作 Chikugo jū Morimitsu kore saku Quote
vajo Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 Thanks John. I'm happy to see some progress in learning to translate signatures. Quote
Ray Singer Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 I have some info on this smith here Chris. http://swordsofjapan.com/project/gendai-morimitsu-katana-in-higo-koshirae/ Quote
vajo Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 Hello Ray, thanks thats interesting. The very "rusty" (and i hope not to damaged) star stamped blade i found is 昭 和 二 十 年 三 月 showa ni ju nen san gatsu (March 1945). Yours is not stamped? So Morimitsu produced as RJT smith and for special order? Quote
Ray Singer Posted May 4, 2018 Report Posted May 4, 2018 There are no star stamps on my sword. Congrats on finding your sword. He was apparently an excellent smith. Best regards, Ray Quote
vajo Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Posted May 4, 2018 Yours is very nice Ray. The koshirae looks very well made too. Ray i found these in the books about this morimitsu. 上作 (JO SAKU) 貴品の列 (Kibin no Retsu) 2nd seat (national swordsmith) Rikugun Jumei Tosho (RJT) Best cutting test 1941 listed in the Nihon Kendo oyobu Token 1943. 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 I believe his teacher's names should be read 'Koyama Nobumitsu' and 'Suetsugu Shigemitsu' (not two separate smiths Suetsugu and Shigemitsu). 1 Quote
cisco-san Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Ray, yes you are right! Suetsugu Shigemitsu is one smith! I guess it is just a typo from Markus.... see his Shigemitsu entry! 1 Quote
vajo Posted May 7, 2018 Author Report Posted May 7, 2018 Wow thank you Klaus and Raymond. So much info. Klaus which book from Markus you use? Quote
Markus Posted May 7, 2018 Report Posted May 7, 2018 Glitches like that will be eliminated in the upcoming Gendaito book. 2 Quote
