Identification Help -Tsuba

[Octagonal]

I just received a seemingly antique tsuba that belonged to my Japanese grandfather and has been sitting in a safe in Ohio for the past few decades. Material appears to be iron. Looking for any information about it that people might have. Thanks.

 

Just over 4mm thick. 65mmx72mm
