peter k Posted April 12, 2018 Report Posted April 12, 2018 these are pics of a nakago that seems to be deteriorating. i saw these pics from another sword forum in the sales section. the sword is a komonjo shinsakuto type. it looks like the owner tried to file away the cracks doing more harm than help. is this a sign of metal fatigue or poor lamination? Bazza Posted April 12, 2018 Report Posted April 12, 2018 Someone has been desperately trying to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse... BaZZa. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted April 14, 2018 Report Posted April 14, 2018 Peter, these are lamination lines. In good blades they should not be visible, but I don't think they will be a cause for the blade to crack. The YASURI ME is really bad work, so I hope that nobody will by that NORIHIDE (?) blade. Quote
peter k Posted April 15, 2018 Author Report Posted April 15, 2018 thanks for the info jean. yes, staying away may be wise, as i've found out the current owner is the 3rd owner within the last 9 months. 1 Quote
Brian Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 If it is, I would be thinking Thailand before I think Japan... Quote
