these are pics of a nakago that seems to be deteriorating. i saw these pics from another sword forum in the sales section.

the sword is a komonjo shinsakuto type. it looks like the owner tried to file away the cracks doing more harm than help.

is this a sign of metal fatigue or poor lamination?

these are lamination lines. In good blades they should not be visible, but I don't think they will be a cause for the blade to crack. The YASURI ME is really bad work, so I hope that nobody will by that NORIHIDE (?) blade.  

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
