Bungo Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15264215/si ... newsletter the second part ( the Japanese story ) should be interesting........... but I like the review of the first part milt THE ronin
Brian Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Milt..do you actually troll the news sites daily looking for these political stories/anti-govt reviews that might just contain some reference to Japan, so that you can post them? :? *sigh* I'll leave it up for now because of the mention of the upcomming movie "Letters From Iwo Jima" told from the Japanese side during WW2..and the fact that I'll make the decision about how off topic to go in a week's time. Get voting if you haven't. Brian

kusunokimasahige Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 has anyone already seen or found a copy of "YAMATO" ???? http://www.yamato-movie.jp/trailer/index.html KM
John A Stuart Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 I read the book some years ago. It was one fantastic feat of engineering and one sad end to the battleship era. Its' final days being used as a floating anti-aircraft platform, the massive 18" guns being destroyed firing beehive rounds during Japans' last defensive gasp. I recommend it. John
pcfarrar Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 has anyone already seen or found a copy of "YAMATO" ???? http://www.yamato-movie.jp/trailer/index.html KM I just bought a copy of the DVD from ebay. I'll let you know :D
Ichi Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Yup, I bought this DVD this summer. One way mission to beach the ship on Okinawa shore to stop the landing force. There was this one clip where sailors were wrapping his tanto to make it waterproof before the airraid. It looked Mino to me. That's about it on sword, but lots of samurai spirits here and there. Do recommend this flip. Play it loud on your 5-surrounding speaker system.
kusunokimasahige Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Yes Please let me know!!!!! Ill be sure if and when i get it ill play it on a 6 speaker system! might take it to my collegue, he has a viewing room with THX certified EX sound system...... working in film does have its benefits from time to time... KM
Stephen Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 not sing in Japanese in the opening credits, I found FOF a bit too much going back and forth, concept had been done well with SPR, looking forward to the FOI to see how well he captures the Bushido spirit. Thanks for the Yamato link, looking for it now on ebay or Amazon.
kusunokimasahige Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Most welcome! also still looking for the film Romusha......... banned in the Netherlands.... While The Dutch might point their finger at any injustice in the world they still somehow conveniently forget about their own war-crimes in Indonesia! KM
