Shamsy Posted April 2, 2018 Report Posted April 2, 2018 Thought this should be copied from the Nihonto threads in case like me you rarely venture that way... Int. article by Gary T. Onohttp://www.discovern...samurai-swords/ Originally provided by Peter Reusch (AKA BIG) Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted April 2, 2018 Report Posted April 2, 2018 From the sword-making side of the story, this is very interesting! Amazing what people can achieve under almost any circumstances. The article was almost ruined for me though, having to read his skewed race-based view of history. He igorantly claimed that it was only Asians interred during the war. We know that there were Itallians and Germans interred also. He also, naively or ignorantly, claimed the internment was driven by racism and economic reasons "These wartime imprisonments were an extension of the racism and economic opportunism that fueled White special interest groups’ desire to eliminate competition". WOW. Couldn't have POSSIBLY been for fear of spying during a WAR?! It blows my mind to see otherwise sensible and responsible people who are blinded by their own racism. 1 Quote
Shamsy Posted April 2, 2018 Author Report Posted April 2, 2018 Yeah, I ignored all of the article that wasn't related to the swords. I have little time for politics in the hobby. 1 Quote
Ontario_Archaeology Posted April 3, 2018 Report Posted April 3, 2018 Defiantly interesting. My grandparents were interned in Canada during the war and forced east afterwards after trying to rebuild their life out west. I also just read the portion about the swords. Matt Quote
