TheGermanBastard Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 Maybe somebody here bought this Kanetaka Waki? I liked its Tsuba. A pitty most of the Kodugu is gone. The Kozuka is rather unique, too. Interesting piece but sold pretty high. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Antique-Wakizashi-Sword-from-WWII-Vet-/401505708890 I wonder what the other two Kanji said? A name? A named blade? Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 Wow, about $1200 final bid. Amazing. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted March 19, 2018 Author Report Posted March 19, 2018 Well, I liked the Tsuba and Kurigata ... there was too littel visisble of the blade for me as to place a big bid on it. Also I am not into Wakizashi anymore these days. Still I would have liked to see more of the blade. Quote
Surfson Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 I put a low bid on that one Luis, and did like the tsuba as well. I was also interested in this one, that went out about the same time. It is signed Daido, but I couldn't convince myself that the mei is good. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Japanese-Samuria-Sword-SIGNED/282883487792?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted March 19, 2018 Author Report Posted March 19, 2018 Yes, the Daido was also on my watch list. I liked its Sugata very much. Also good Horimonos. I think the Daido had a good signature and I liked its Tsuba, too while it was unfortunately overcleaned. But again it sold for more than my wallet could have bared. I think both blades were interesting and fetched good money for the sellers Quote
Surfson Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 If the mei was good, it wasn't the shodai, so I passed on it. Quote
J Reid Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 I think the money is in the Tsuba here. Very nice, imho. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted March 19, 2018 Author Report Posted March 19, 2018 Hello Josh, were you referin to the Kanetaka or the Daido Tsuba? I liked both very much. Was the Daido Tsuba Goto? Quote
Surfson Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 I think it was gimei Yanagawa Haruhide Luis. b Quote
J Reid Posted March 19, 2018 Report Posted March 19, 2018 Luis, I'm referring to the Kanetaka Tsuba. Looks like a formal dress Tsuba (Kenjo). Sort of rare. Not sure on the school, but I wouldn't say it is Goto. The Nanako isn't refined enough. Not sure on an attribution. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted March 19, 2018 Author Report Posted March 19, 2018 Hello Josh, thank you. I was refering to the Tsuba on the Daido. Bob got it as Yanagawa Haruhide. The Kenjo Tsuba was also lovely. Thanky ou for the information. 1 Quote
