kyushukairu Posted March 15, 2018 Report Posted March 15, 2018 Any thoughts on this kogatana's hamon? I had initially thought it was Fuji san, but then realised I was looking at it upside down Quote
Ray Singer Posted March 15, 2018 Report Posted March 15, 2018 Looks like toran-ba. I see a tama (round tobiyaki) above the waves. Some togari mixed in. Quote
Jean Posted March 15, 2018 Report Posted March 15, 2018 I don’t think it’s toranba Ray, it is very difficult to judge or named on only one wavy bump. 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted March 15, 2018 Report Posted March 15, 2018 This is the area I was referring to, but I may be wrong (trick of the light). Difficult to evaluate in the current photos of that tama is really there. 1 Quote
PhoenixDude Posted March 15, 2018 Report Posted March 15, 2018 Its pretty either way! Is it signed? Can we get better pics of the whole thing? Quote
Jean Posted March 16, 2018 Report Posted March 16, 2018 Some kind of gunome midare, but the picture is not good enough. In any case as you stated it is a mixed hamon Quote
kyushukairu Posted March 29, 2018 Author Report Posted March 29, 2018 Thanks for the comments, chaps. I've tried to take a better photo, but it's not much of an improvement on the previous one.I don't think it's toran-ba, but just the lack of clarity in the photo. Where it looks like tama is just where the hamon turns back on itselfIt's not signed, though there is the remnants of a ken horimono on the other side Quote
nagamaki - Franco Posted March 29, 2018 Report Posted March 29, 2018 Hello Kyle, For reference, while going through older files I came across this ko gatana which featured a toran-ba hamon by Suketaka who was well known for this style. Quote
