Vermithrax16 Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I bought this tsuba a while ago. Now that I have a few more, what stands out to me is how thick this one is. It's a full 6mm and a bit more. Any ideas on school of this one or is it just a no name random piece? Quote
FlorianB Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I’m not an expert but judging by these pictures I would say Shoami at its best. But it's just a shot in the dark.Try the search at the Boston MFA: http://www.mfa.org/search?search_api_views_fulltext=tsuba%20shoami&page=1, there are some to compare with. Maybe that helps to get an idea. Furthermore unfortunately the nunome seems missing partially due to use.Any pictures of the reverse?Florian 1 Quote
MauroP Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I'd also go for plain Shōami, Aizu-Shōami or Hizen (in decreasing probability). Bye, Mauro 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Jeremiah,6 mm is not extreme. The SAN SUI theme of your TSUBA is known to have been used also by the KANEIE style/school. Quote
