Edward S Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 Hello everyone, I am new to NMB and this is my first post/request. I tried posting this elsewhere on the site but I think I may have done so in the wrong place! Still finding my way around the site. Anyway if anyone can help me with a tsuba I have had for many years I would be grateful. The tsuba came off a badly damaged Wakizashi that I was given by a friend. The only salvageable parts were the tsuba and the Fuchi the rest of the ensemble was not worth keeping. If anyone can help with the translation and if they have any other info on the maker that would be appreciated. Many thanks. Quote
Bazza Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 On the RHS: YAMASHIRO KUNI FUSHIMI JUU (I think. If wrong others will correct me) On the LHS KANEIE There is heaps of stuff on the Kaneie school including all the copies by others. A large volume and a considerable study in its own right!! Put KANEIE (or KANEIYE) into google and into the search function for the Board and you will be blessed with reading. As to the genuineness of your tsuba I cannot say, but there are people on the Board who can... Bestests, BaZZa. EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the Board Edward. You will find heaps of willing help here if not already done do spend time "just surfing" the Board... Quote

Edward S Posted February 24, 2018 Author Report Posted February 24, 2018 Many thanks Bazza and John, That has given me a start. Although I have been collecting for quite a while, my knowledge is just one point above zero! From reading the information so far I have already learned quite a bit. Best Wishes, Edward S Quote
