Charlie, it is my experience that you can't get the silk sarute out of the tsuka unless it is cut. The cord is actually sewn in one piece as a continuous loop.

I'd always wondered how they secured silk Sarute, thought it was like normal Sarute: two ends secured to each end of the barrel. Thanks for clearing that up Neil.

Kind of wondering what the next move will be. It’s my favorite army sword and the current silk sarute finally broke apart. It’s been hanging on by a thread for years. No knot on it but time just took its toll.
