Stephen Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 i cant find the post someone was looking for sound gunto This Kanenaga might fill the check off list, i dont think its 'the' Kanenaga rated 2mil yen, could be shinshinto? lower end of nakago looks darker, it has two holes also it just might be a older blade, not 100% on that might just be a seki smith? ask for blade photos he sent me a slew, kissaki has a slight roll but a touch on whole blade would take care of that. https://www.ebay.com/itm/352240817334?ul_noapp=true Quote
Stephen Posted January 4, 2018 Author Report Posted January 4, 2018 nice seller, gets back quick with answers, just over 26" nagasa 1 Quote
Brian Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 Agree it looks suriage and maybe older, but then there are also the comments made here previously that no-one has seen a decent blade (100% traditionally made) in those mounts before. Myself included. Never say never....but it would be unusual. Quote
vajo Posted January 4, 2018 Report Posted January 4, 2018 The mounts are from parts. Nothing fit's together. Those green Type3 saya often seen with showa-to. Quote
Stephen Posted January 4, 2018 Author Report Posted January 4, 2018 I dont know Chris, he does say on other sword the saya doesnt fit. buyer should ask many questions Quote
dwmc Posted January 5, 2018 Report Posted January 5, 2018 Mis-matched parts, hmmm, seen that somewhere before. No shortage of Kanenaga smiths, nice looking sword, shallow sori, maybe even Shinto era Kanbun... Dave 1 Quote
leo Posted January 5, 2018 Report Posted January 5, 2018 Hi, Folks! IMHO definitely showato, Brian. Typical oil hardened hamon, no hada. Prosperous New Year to all of you, Martin Quote

Stephen Posted January 5, 2018 Author Report Posted January 5, 2018 Always always ask for more photos, id guess WW2 Seki smith 1 Quote
Brian Posted January 5, 2018 Report Posted January 5, 2018 I don't think Showa-to. But what i knows.. played with gama.. As Stephen said, WW2 Seki. Hard spots in the peaks. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 Yes, oil tempered Seki blade imo. Without original mounts either. Saw it before and passed, got a nice Gendaito instead for around same money. 2 Quote
Ed Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 I have a Kanenaga gunto in much better mounts for around the same price. Check the web site if you are looking for one. http://yakiba.com/Newlisting.htm 2 Quote
