NihontoEurope Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 Hi all, If anyone has this book, please send a PM. Third edition and used. Quote
Ian Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 I have this one, but I have no idea what edition it is, maybe 1st? Quote
Stephen Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 unless its a must have mei oshigata,,,,save your money. 1 Quote
Blagoy Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 In amazon have one copy https://www.amazon.ca/Swords-Swordsmiths-Province-Revised-Expanded/dp/099369182X Quote
NihontoEurope Posted December 13, 2017 Author Report Posted December 13, 2017 Ian, That is not the 3rd edition (I think earlier as you say). Maybe a plan B for me. Stephen, Yes, the mei oshigata is important. I have so many Sukesada that I really need to know which one is which. Impossible to set a correct price on them otherwise. Trying to save money by pursuing a used book : ) If I would know for a fact that it would help me with only 1 of my blades I'd purchase a new one. Blagoy, Link is not working. I did see a NEW on amazon today. Same? Quote
Blagoy Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 Martin, I think it's the same brand new 3th edition for 150 cdn$. I don't know if they deliver to EU or the price is right. But this is the only one i found. Best regards https://www.amazon.ca/Swords-Swordsmiths-Province-Revised-Expanded/dp/099369182X/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1513172222&sr=1-4 Quote
NihontoEurope Posted December 13, 2017 Author Report Posted December 13, 2017 It is the same one I saw earlier today. Quote
Stephen Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 basically the cost of shinsa, sooooo many Sukesada, workmanship tells all. the Fimo books are very poor IMHO 2 Quote
Okiiimo Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 +1 to what Steven says. It’s basically a notebook that someone decided to publish. Indexing and cross referencing of Oshigata is nonexistent. Some pages are copies of handwritten notes. Quote
NihontoEurope Posted December 13, 2017 Author Report Posted December 13, 2017 Thanks for the advice! I have only but a few pages. Quote
Jean Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 When I was young and innocent, I bought this book. When I read it, I knew I had been conned. This is the wortheless book I have ever read on Nihonto. You will find very general infos on Bizen, easily uploaded on any Nihonto website, then the list of Bizen smiths listed by Hawleys. That’s all. Nothing worth about Ichimonji, ko Bizen, Osafune, Soden.... NEVER BUY THIS BOOK.... Stephen is 100% right 5 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted December 14, 2017 Report Posted December 14, 2017 Wait! You were once innocent, Jean? Hard to believe! Quote
Guido Posted December 14, 2017 Report Posted December 14, 2017 NEVER BUY THIS BOOK That is true for all his "books" - they are basically sloppy copy-and-paste jobs ... 2 Quote
Curran Posted December 14, 2017 Report Posted December 14, 2017 you have some good opinions above. Quote
Jean Posted December 14, 2017 Report Posted December 14, 2017 Yes, Ken, I was innocent once (however’ can’t remember when ) Quote
NihontoEurope Posted December 14, 2017 Author Report Posted December 14, 2017 Dang! Thank you for all the advice! Not so much for saving money...I have very little time at the moment and it seems I saved time thanks to all the advice. Again. Thank you! Quote

Stephen Posted December 14, 2017 Report Posted December 14, 2017 Yes, Ken, I was innocent once (however’ can’t remember when ) Jean about this far back why you cant remember! Quote
Jean Posted December 14, 2017 Report Posted December 14, 2017 I remember now, Stephen, this is the sheer moment where I lost my innocence, realizing someone had stolen my baguette 1 Quote
