Jeremiah,

It's a very fine example, as always GOOD rabbits are not at all common and never cheap.....it can be had for 3000 USD.

As far as I know, the last free-hopping rabbits were removed from Hawaii back in the 1970s, but they used to drive my mother crazy back in Phoenix, when they ate her roses.

I do like those mounts at Aoi as well.  Rabbits and waves.  I hope that bunny can swim.  Here's another with rabbits and waves - you have to look closely to find the bunnies.  Maybe Richard can tell us the significance in Japanese folklore.

Stephen,

Always the potential 'Pot stirrer',.    Classic German fare, but I suspect dining on the cuddly creatures may not be enthusiastically embraced here.....better Pfeffernusse than Hasenpfeffer.

I have been wanting to put a bunny in the nursery here, but didn't realize that I had one until I ran across this Umetada tsuba today.   I have no recollection when, where or from whom I bought it, but I'm sure it was quite a long time ago.  I am adding a couple different perspectives.   it is signed Yamashiro Kuni Ju, Umetada Narishige.   Cheers Jeremiah, Bob

I do too Jeremiah, the tapering around the sukashi forming the rabbit creates an optical illusion and gives it a sense of living dimension.
