Unknown Swordsmith Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 I can't decide which one of these two sword I should buy: Wakizashi #676 http://www.juwelier-strebel.de/asien-kunst/Japan/wakizashi-tanto.html Katana #713 http://www.juwelier-strebel.de/asien-kunst/Japan/katana.html Quote
PhoenixDude Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 It depends on which one you want more. Heres a tip. Get a coin, assign one to heads one to tails. flip it. then buy the one you are hoping it lands on. If it were me though, I would get the Wak, its made by a much higher ranked smith and I <3 the fittings. Quote
PhoenixDude Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 btw if you buy the wak, I want the menuki. Like I will do unspeakable things for those menuki. 2 Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 Which one do you like better? That's the one you should get. There is no ultimate answer to your question. As an investment blade you can buy either or neither as one is about as good or as bad as the other one ... Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 Wakizashi is nice. Neither of them are anything sensational for the money. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 András,if you really have that money to spend, you could get way better swords elsewhere. The KATANA is extremely straight, more than I would expect from a KANBUN blade. Perhaps it was made for a cane sword. The WAKZASHI seems better, but as I said, compare first what you could get from the dealers who are members of the NMB forum. 3 Quote
Shugyosha Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 Jean, Are you looking at katana #713, Osafune Sukemune? Otherwise, I totally agree - if I was looking to spend this kind of money, I'd be looking somewhere else. Best, John Quote
vajo Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 It's allways difficult when you ask the taste of collectors. I think he asked for help to judge which one he likes more. If i want to buy a VW Golf or Caddy and ask which one i should choose i get the answer buy none, buy another, thats not easy. ???? Someone advise me not to buy swords under 10k because lower that price you didn't found art swords. Maybe i feel better not to have an art sword. It depends all on the taste of a collector. Dont forget that we in Germany must pay 19% tax + custom fee on the price inkl. shipping costs buying outside europe Quote
Jean Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 Chris, two examples under 10k$ which are art swords. Not very common to see a Tadahiro with utsuri. http://www.aoijapan.com/wakizashi-tanba-kami-yoshimichi-kyo-2nd-generation https://www.aoijapan.com/katana-hizen-kuni-ju-oumi-daijo-hujiwara-tadahiro Quote
ROKUJURO Posted November 29, 2017 Report Posted November 29, 2017 John, thank you, you are right, I got the wrong number. This one may be better, but my general opinion remains. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted December 2, 2017 Report Posted December 2, 2017 The topic starter should buy both swords. Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted December 2, 2017 Report Posted December 2, 2017 What made you choose these 2 swords András? 1 Quote
