Harvey Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Hello to all, This is the sword I posted a couple of weeks ago. I removed the black paint from the saya and I think it looks better. I also bought some oil of clove and applied it to the blade. I appreciate everyone's advice as well as your opinions regarding its period and maker. This probably won't get me started collecting Japanese swords but I think it's a nice item to have as an example of one. Regards Quote
Stephen Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Harvy make sure your not useing oil of clove from the drugest, it can and i have it seen before turn the blade a off color, a light machine oil will do the job in place of chogi. It does look alot better. Grey might be able to tell you how to remove the rest of the black, would a stain remover work? For now it looks fine. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 I think the black is there to stay. It looks much better than it did when we first saw it; leave well enough alone. Grey Quote
