myochin Posted November 14, 2017 Report Posted November 14, 2017 Hello, I am looking for the picture of an iron tsuba with a landscape design using gold nunome-zôgan. The tsuba is signed Kaneshige 兼重 I understand there is one published in a small Japanese book somewhere.... Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks Paul Quote

Ford Hallam Posted November 15, 2017 Report Posted November 15, 2017 Sounds like it might be a Hizen (Hirado) work. Quote
myochin Posted November 15, 2017 Author Report Posted November 15, 2017 Not at all Ford. There exists a small group of iron tsuba with iron inlay and gold nunome zôgan that are attributed to the (Ko-)Shôami. They generally represent a landscape with hut(s), people, boats, etcHere is an example from Haynes' last book I am looking for a similar style tsuba that is signed Kaneshige (17th century) Thanks Paul Quote
