Stephen Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Japanese-W ... dZViewItem we all have seen the high end gendaito, i think this must be a record for Nobufusa. Seller has a Ken going off in a hour that may reach this price or higher. when its over we can talk about the smith. Quote
Stephen Posted April 11, 2008 Author Report Posted April 11, 2008 the Ken auciton, any comments on the mei? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=019 Quote
Grey Doffin Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 I was watching the ken: Noshu ju Kinju. The original Kinju was Masamune jutetsu (student of Masamune) and is considered the founder of Seki sword smithing. I was unable to find any reference to his signing like this; everything I saw was 2 character mei. My guess is a late Koto ken by a later generation. Both the price for the ken and that for the Nobufusa are much more than I would have chanced. Wish I had customers like that. Grey Quote

Brian Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 WTF? Are you saying eBay has blocked you from viewing auctions based on your country of residence? If so..that is taking censorship just a little bit too far! Please elaborate on this a bit more, as this could be a huge issue. What if you are just browsing for info and research? I suggest logging out of eBay, and using an anonymiser proxy to browse. Brian Quote
Thierry BERNARD Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 this ken is in WW II category ( Collectibles > Militaria > WW II (1939-45) > Original Period Items > Japan ) it's the reason why we ( french Peoples ) can't see it. but in fact blocking is not base on our country of residence but ( i think so ) on internet domain ( IP adress ) it's the reason why i can see it from work  but not from home except with an anomyser software Quote
Jean Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 It is what I thought - and connecting from work (naughty boy :D :D ) Quote

pcfarrar Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 we all have seen the high end gendaito, i think this must be a record for Nobufusa. That's a very impressive price for a Nobufusa. I have a 8th generation Nobufusa katana in top quality gunto mounts. It has superb choji ashi and huge streaks of inazuma, one is over 10cm long! I believe he made his own steel and experimented with mixing them? Quote

Leatherdog Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I was watching this seller's group of swords pretty closely...what are everyone's thoughts on the other swords he had listed, especially the katana in shirasaya, the tanto, and the gendai Tadayoshi? Hoping to hear more discussion on the ken as well...looked like a neat piece! Quote
