Ray Singer Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 Unless 'not a novice' means a professionally trained and licensed togishi, this is not going to go over well. 5 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 First we need pictures to determine whether you have destroyed or saved this sword. Quote
J Reid Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 Do not attempt to restore Japanese swords. Use a professional. It requires a gruelling decade long apprenticeship under a master togishi to learn how to polish a sword correctly. To attempt to work on a sword with any less experience under your belt (without your masters permission) is a mortal sin and just outright disresspectful to that particular blade. It's only alive today because it was shown respect. It's all of our jobs to continue to honour that. I hope you can understand this and refrain from any further tinkering. 4 Quote
Stephen Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 If hes already ground the life out of it...its a moot point to tell him not to. Lets see what ya have done Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 One single character of a mei is very unlikely to tell you anything about the maker, unless it happens to be ichi. Please feel free to post good, in-focus photos of the blade, & also let us know who you are by adding at least your first name, per Brian's rules. Quote
Brian Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 Here we go down the rabbit hole..... Quote
