vajo Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 I tried to translate this signature. But it makes no sense. There is no smith with this signature. What you think? Quote
Guido Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 王見 might read Ōmi, but I couldn’t find any smith by that name either. The province is Nōshū 濃州, btw. 1 Quote
vajo Posted October 28, 2017 Author Report Posted October 28, 2017 Hello Guido Noshu ju yamaguchi omi kore saku Is that so correct? Mystery signature... Omi is a island at the Yamaguchi präfekture. Noshu is the old name for mino (province) now Gifu? This signature is maybe not the name of the smith - mumei? Thanks Chris Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 王 is Ō or Kimi 見 is Aki or Chika (mi May be an option too, but I don’t know that one but trust Guido) It’s a name, but I can’t find the smith, so it may be a family name and not his smith name. 1 Quote
vajo Posted October 28, 2017 Author Report Posted October 28, 2017 Thanks Joe, maybe that picture could help? The guy says it is a gendaito (civilian mounts). Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Looks like gendaito. I checked the Seki smith list but can’t find him. Very possible to be undocumented. 1 Quote
