Dear All,

Here my last purchase (on Christian’s advice, thank you ! :) ) : a maru gata with a pattern of six leaves.

6,9 x 7,4 cm

Thickness : 4 mm at the seppa dai

In my opinion it is very close to Akao or Kinai school, province of Echizen, but I must confess to a little trouble in my research … !

What do you think about ?

Thanks

Hi

Is the rim too round to be Akao?

The one I have has a semi circular rim

I also wouldn't guess Kinai

See what tsuba you can find with this type of rim then look into the design

Many thanks Grev,

I understand about Akao, more generally maru mimi but deep black patina and hitsu ana made me think Akao or Kinai

I Will check Myochin  :)

Best,

Hugues,

'linear lamination' shows in the NAKAGO ANA and the SUKASHI, on the rim and in the HITSU  (= vertical surfaces) as horizontal layers (des couches horizontaux).

I did not find traces of linear lamination on the tsuba, for the moment Myochin seems to be the best attribution

Thanks
