Akao Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Dear All, Here my last purchase (on Christian’s advice, thank you ! ) : a maru gata with a pattern of six leaves. 6,9 x 7,4 cm Thickness : 4 mm at the seppa dai In my opinion it is very close to Akao or Kinai school, province of Echizen, but I must confess to a little trouble in my research … ! What do you think about ? Thanks Quote
kissakai Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Hi Is the rim too round to be Akao? The one I have has a semi circular rim I also wouldn't guess Kinai See what tsuba you can find with this type of rim then look into the design Quote
Akao Posted October 21, 2017 Author Report Posted October 21, 2017 Many thanks Grev, I understand about Akao, more generally maru mimi but deep black patina and hitsu ana made me think Akao or Kinai I Will check Myochin Best, Quote
seattle1 Posted October 21, 2017 Report Posted October 21, 2017 Hello: If you can find traces of linear lamination on what might be termed the vertical surfaces it might be a Ko Shoami or early Akasaka. Arnold F. Quote
Akao Posted October 28, 2017 Author Report Posted October 28, 2017 Hello Arnold, Thank you for your answer, I'm sorry but what would trace of linear lamination be like? Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Hugues,'linear lamination' shows in the NAKAGO ANA and the SUKASHI, on the rim and in the HITSU (= vertical surfaces) as horizontal layers (des couches horizontaux). Quote
Akao Posted October 29, 2017 Author Report Posted October 29, 2017 I did not find traces of linear lamination on the tsuba, for the moment Myochin seems to be the best attribution Thanks Quote
kissakai Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 This has similar features to your tsuba It is from my tsuba book in the Myochin section 2 Quote
