Nihontocollector19 Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 I don't have the money right now but i wanted to see if i could track these mounts down. in January of 2016 i bought a star tamp gendai from a gentlemen named Matt lapoint on Facebook it was in type 3 mounts. the mounts ended up being sold separately and i was wandering if anyone here may of purchased them or know anyone how may of bought them. it was housed in a black leather feild cover not in the best of shape with black type three fittings and lacquered tsukamaki that looks almost red when on camera. Your right.Strange, it looks 100% identical like the one that got “lost” but now with a blade? Quote
Death-Ace Posted October 11, 2017 Report Posted October 11, 2017 I Andrew take a look at this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GREAT-WWII-Japanese-Samurai-Sword-Officer-SHIN-GUNTO-World-War-2-KATANA-Blade/222672092411?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41451%26meid%3De2599044f4dd4b888818b0785fd5d66f%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D202073969705&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 Leather saya seems very similar. I saw that one and it reminded me of the post Andrew is stating. Lo and behold, here we are! It was unfortunate that Matt had to have the blade and koshirae were seperated, even if the blade was in bad shape. Still, I heard the seller in Richmond is a stand-up guy and couldnt see him putting sets together without mentioning it? There have been a few of theae sighted, so wouldnt surprise me if this is a new find, but it is oddly familiar. Quote

Brian Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 Pretty bizarre that almost 2 years after you bought the sword, the day you ask about the mounts, they are on eBay for sale? 3 Quote
