Kazee21 Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Hello, This mei is from an old, very long tachi! Can anyone read the mei please? Thank you! Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 13, 2017 Report Posted October 13, 2017 No, I cannot read it, but here is something to start with. 道勝 Michikatsu 1 Quote
uwe Posted October 17, 2017 Report Posted October 17, 2017 Second kanji might be "Tokio" or "Aki".... Quote
Kazee21 Posted October 22, 2017 Author Report Posted October 22, 2017 I don’t have a picture of the blade profile, but I do have a full nakago and jihada picture. It is a blade I am trying to acquire! Quote
Ray Singer Posted October 22, 2017 Report Posted October 22, 2017 Looks like a very interesting piece which may be early. Second kanji definitely appears to be toki. The first kanji is not Sada, but reminds me of the off-balance way that Ayanokoji Sadatoshi and Sadayoshi signed their mei. Whatever it reads, this name has an old look. Good luck with this one. Certainly looks intriguing and worth pursuing. Quote
Ray Singer Posted October 22, 2017 Report Posted October 22, 2017 The attached is a mei for Aoe Moritsugu. Notice the way MORI is executed. This particular sword appears in both Fujishiro and the Nihonto Zuikan. EDIT. Looking at this a bit more, I am going to suggest Ietoki. There were three Ietoki working during the Kamakura period, including one Mogusa smith. 1 Quote
