Stephen Posted October 9, 2017 Report Posted October 9, 2017 https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/objekte?aid=157&Lstatus=0&Accid=1719 lots and lots to look at 2 Quote
Hoshi Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Thanks for keeping us appraised, Stephan Quote
Hoshi Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 That is a splendid katana kake, made for 'foreigner' tastes apparently. https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/katana_kake_japan_um_1900/l/160848?aid=157&Lstatus=0&Accid=1719&_=1507597370873¤tpos=36 Not much catching my eye on the sword side. I suppose the top pieces of these collectors get skimmed off the top - but surprisingly the European arms are still very high grade. Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 I looked at it and dare to say that is is all pretty much junk ...aleast the descriptions are honest Quote
Stephen Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 Wanting others to pass so you can win....lol kidding. two tsuba i like, the rabbit n moon and men pulling boat, them on one side, boat on other, something special? no but fun. i thought the daisho looked ok, BTJM Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 hello stephen, I have to specify that I was refering to the swords only ... the armor for example is okay ... the daisho however is pure crap ... no boshi = no good (fittings are nice though ... so you get an iron Tsnugai ) considering their premium and that the euro is strong it is expensive in the 1st place anyway Quote
Stephen Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 we must have different viewing abilities, did you see pix where you could see the boshi? ill have to give it another look Quote
Stephen Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 This one? https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/daisho_japan_um_1360/l/160822?aid=157&Lstatus=0&Accid=1719¤tpos=10 click on pic i think i see boshi Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 "Katana-Klinge Shinogi Tsukuri, Chu Kissaki, tiefer Torii Zori. Ko Choji Midare Hamon, Mokume Hada, Boshi nicht mehr vorhanden," Translates to: No Boshi left ... Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 I an not see it in the image either Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 The Waki isn't thrilling me ... Also we must not forget that this is no REAL Daisho in anyway ... this is a DAISHO Koshirae ... of nice quality I'd say .... but approx 7500 USD at the least for a set of Daisho Mounts? I think I can find the same on eBay for half the money easily. Quote
Stephen Posted October 10, 2017 Author Report Posted October 10, 2017 Why NMB is so great, members from most corners of the world to give us info needed! i still think i see a boshi, must be the photo....lol Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Nice Kai Gunto, all I could see of note sword wise. 1 Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 By the way, they have had a very finely mounted Tanto which I thought to have been a real head cutter ... but in this auction lot I do not see much of appreciation. A while agao they had some great armor for sale coming from an old collection. Things you don't see for sale that often. Howevver with a more open Japanese sword market I do not see much opportunitie sin floor auctions considering they have a big premium. Am auction house has lost of expenses to pay so it will be your money spend on that in the end. hence I feel the real bargains are out there elsewhere. Looking in the NMB for sale section there are some realy sweet deals for example. Quote
vajo Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Hi Luis, i saw this, but nothing there what impress me to go in The only nice one, i think https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/wakizashi_japan_um_1500/l/160829?aid=157&Lstatus=0&Accid=1719¤tpos=17 Quote
J Reid Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Starting bids are wayyyyy too high. What's with all the wakizashi in oversized koshirae? Haha Quote
Jean Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Yes, at Herman’s place, no milk today: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AuGWNshGM64 Quote

About 3000 bucks for some likely Mino O-Suriage Wakizashi piece that would need a new polish? Bringing the bill to 4k? Nope. Quote
Surfson Posted October 15, 2017 Report Posted October 15, 2017 The katana kake looks great, and I'm thinking that it may have been a Tokugawa daimyo piece based on the elaborate mons carved into it. But the price is putting it out of reach. 1 Quote
Higo-san Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Just a small update: there are lots of items left that did not sell during the auction. Hermann usually gives a 10-20% discount on these: https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/objekte?aid=157&Lstatus=3&Accid=1719&cname=Japan Best, Chris Quote
