Well spotted Stephen . :) :)

When you see the hamon, it is very different from What usually exist on kogatana.

Generally, the kogatana tempered part is much larger (I have some very nice ones in shirasaya).

These Kogatana have an Hamon similar to larger blades and not to usual kogatana. Here are some examples where you can see usal hamon.

I don't think they are new. The surface finishing on the mei side is consistent with what you see in some of these shinshinto kogatana and is pretty much identical to a very nice Ozaki Suketaka I had.

They are probably gimei, maybe made around Taisho or something.

Masahide is faked almost as much as Kotetsu.

Some of the smiths doing the fakery shortly after the sword ban were pretty good. This tanto was really, really nice and I've seen others that have fooled some good people (including myself) when faking Shinshinto smiths.

Thanks guys, gimei or not, these are the best i have had, i took one blade out and reddish power dust came out of the handle, the blade was wrapped with two pieces of bamboo paper, i will post pictures tomorrow.

If Darcy is right they were made and never used, put away in bamboo leaves sounds right, the edges are just to crisp for evey haing any use. May we ask where you got these?
