Roman,

congratulations! Please read here on the board about care and maintenance to preserve the blade and its value!

Age is a point, but quality and condition are as important! So research and study your blade and and enjoy it!

Roman,

that is exactly what you should NEVER do! Restoration and 'repair' can only be done by traditionally trained specialists. Otherwise you are very likely ruining the blade!

PLEASE READ ABOUT CARE AND MAINTENANCE and just lightly oil the blade to prevent more rust.
