AndrewM Posted September 14, 2017 Report Posted September 14, 2017 Hopefully I am posting in a suitable section of the forum. I would be grateful if any UK members with experience of posting Japanese swords to mainland Europe could recommend suitable postage methods, recomrnded couriers etc. I'm not sure if there are any customs or specific regulations issues to be mindful of. All and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Regards Andrew Quote
Alex A Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 Hi Andrew. Il have be brief, boss has come up with a new clocking in phone app Seems the biggest issue is actually getting to accept swords over the counter, have a read of this, not Europe, US, but still applies. http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/23294-mailing-swords-to-the-usa-from-the-uk/ You have not stated what exactly you are shipping?, tanto, wak, katana, value ?. I have always used Parcelforce, once accepted then no problems. You might want to try booking in online. Has someone bought the sword?. Sometimes they want the cheap service, if so, then make it clear that the risk is their risk, either by way of lack of tracking or insurance (can be expensive) Best Quote
christianmalterre Posted September 15, 2017 Report Posted September 15, 2017 never had any issues ( negative) in eitherway direction- no customs fees for us here / nor for you on the islands- no difference between "mainland Europe Continent" and "Great Britain rocks in the Northsea". no difference either of what you do trade ( Katchu, Nihonto, Tosogu) ( least till now....who but knows how you Brits think to work in future ???) i but do recomment so to do exact declaration ( value, estimatet age ect.) ask your´s (preferred) courrier how it is the best way for given declaration and insurance. easy task- never had any complaints! in general i did use DHL in past- did but also use Fedex and UPS.....no difference- (Fedex were but the fastest and most uncomplicatet providers i must say....)
