PhoenixDude Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 So I am making custom fit, Black urushi lacqured boxes to hold some of my Goto school fittings in. I am going to makie a light dust of gold powder on the outside of each box. Anyways I was wondering what the opinion was on what color silk would best go with it? I was researching traditional dyes and came across the list of kinjiki used in the rank system for the Kuge class. I am trying to decide between [going from top left to right:] Ochre (Otan) Deep Purple (Kokimurasaki) Magenta (Akamurasaki) True Deep Red (Shinshu) Deep scarlet (Kokiake) or Light Scarlet (Asaiaka). Post the color you like best! Quote
AnAmNeSiS Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Jay - Magenta (Akamurasaki) All the way! Goto Fittings!!! Any chance you can post a pic of them? Sincerely, Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 As always, up to you, but I vote for True Deep Red (Shinshu) Quote
Mark S. Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 I'm voting for the dark purple. Always considered a 'royal' or 'noble' or 'high ranking' color. Nothing but the best for those fittings... Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Another vote here for magenta, Jay. Ken Quote
Bazza Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Where is the green???? In Japan "Green Car" on the railways is First Class, I guess the equivalent of Pullman in the USA. That's why Green Papers (once upon a time) were Green!! The chirimen green that used to be 'de rigeur' in fittings boxes seems to not hold sway these days. Why?? Does anybody know??? BaZZa. Quote
vajo Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Three ones für true deep red but only two votes Quote
Gakusee Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Kokimurasaki Is both classy and traditional but other colours look good too. That would be my first choice followed by deep red shinshu Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Magenta (Akamurasaki). BTW the color takes its international name from my city. 1 Quote
peterd Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Hi, I think it depends on the colour of the fittings. Some colours look better with shibuichi or shakudo, iron, sentoku ect. 1 Quote
PhoenixDude Posted September 4, 2017 Author Report Posted September 4, 2017 Nobody like Ochre with black and gold? Quote
Surfson Posted September 9, 2017 Report Posted September 9, 2017 Magenta. Shakudo needs to have contrast and the darker colors don't provide enough contrast. Quote
