Ford Hallam Posted September 2, 2017 Report Posted September 2, 2017 I delivered this presentation last year at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. The Compositional Analysis of Antique Japanese sword Fittings. A brief introduction to the technology and the relevance of the data it provides. There is obviously lots more to the brief outlines I've presented in the lecture I'm sharing today, and tons of references and sources cited. I know all of this this will only unleash a storm of questions and speculation but I'm afraid I can't properly engage in any lengthy discussions at this time as I really am up to my eyeballs doing my best to get to the end of this project. I've added a few more details and posted the whole lot with supporting images and tables of data on my forum here. I hope it's of interest. 10 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted September 2, 2017 Report Posted September 2, 2017 Ford, although I am a 'steel man', this is of great interest for me from the point of view of the experimental archaeologist, and a very valuable insight in traditional perception versus modern science! Quote

TETSUGENDO Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Ford, Most informative, nice to be able to work with fact instead of conjecture. Thank you for doing this important work. This seems like quite the task...where does one make an end? -StevenK Quote
Ford Hallam Posted September 3, 2017 Author Report Posted September 3, 2017 Thanks Gents, good to know you're finding this evolving story interesting. I really am working as hard and fast as i can to get this all wrapped up but I must be careful not to get sloppy and make sure it al comes together properly and coherently. Not too long now. Quote
