vajo Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Could someone read that Mei? (Tomoyuki 友行) ??? Sorry i can't do it better... And if possible the meaning of the horimono on the blade. I think it's sanskrit? Many thanks Chris Quote
ROKUJURO Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Yes, I also read TOMOYUKI.We had a link to a list of BONJI here in the forums, but I can't find it right now. Quote
Ray Singer Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Does not look quite right for TOMO to my eyes. Perhaps 安行 (Yasuyuki)... 3 Quote
Bazza Posted August 23, 2017 Report Posted August 23, 2017 IMHO the bonji look strange and somewhat crude compared to well-executed ones I have seen. Even the way the kanji TOMOYUKI are incised looks not quite right to my eye. Are we looking at a higher end Chinese knockoff here??? BaZZa. Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted August 23, 2017 Report Posted August 23, 2017 Can we see the rest of the blade, specifically tip, hamon and full picture of the blade from both sides? Quote
vajo Posted August 23, 2017 Author Report Posted August 23, 2017 I try to get another pictures. And come back. Quote
vajo Posted August 26, 2017 Author Report Posted August 26, 2017 The owner sent me some pictures but not the hole sugata. I try to get more. He said from the tip to habaki the sword is 63 cm. What you think could it be? Maybe we want to go in a trade. But I'm not sure about the signature and the blade, because it is short. Quote
Stephen Posted August 26, 2017 Report Posted August 26, 2017 Do you see all the ware? Not bother you? Quote
vajo Posted August 26, 2017 Author Report Posted August 26, 2017 Yes i see it stephen. But i thought if it is a naminohira school koto sword there are often some ware. What you think? Quote
Stephen Posted August 26, 2017 Report Posted August 26, 2017 I think i count a half a dozen (pix 3 alone) or should say stopped counting there. In long run you would be very sad, in the mune not so bad rest of the blade??, i shudder to think how many more there is. Quote
vajo Posted August 27, 2017 Author Report Posted August 27, 2017 Got some pics more today the blade looks old. Not the best pictures, but with photoshop i try to see the shape of the blade. But there are some dark places around the horimono. What you think? Maybe fire damage? Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted August 27, 2017 Report Posted August 27, 2017 Could be heat marks from when it was taken to with a buffing wheel. Quote
Brian Posted August 27, 2017 Report Posted August 27, 2017 Sigh.Amateurs and restoration.Notice the nice sharp defined shinogi? Me neither. Quote
vajo Posted August 27, 2017 Author Report Posted August 27, 2017 It looks late muromachi for me. Is it worth to buy it for a polish? Quote

It looks like a stout blade but how much is he asking? Kissaki would need fair amount of work, who knows if the temper has been shot from buffing/sanding, how many ware/hagire are obscured..... 1 Quote
