SwordGuyJoe Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 All, We have had a couple chats over the years of newer swords made to look suriage. Here is an example by Yoshihara Yoshindo. https://mobile.twitter.com/heiseimeitokai/status/899204512635789312/photo/1 Quote
Blagoy Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 What's the point of it? I don't understand why someone's will shorten a shinsakuto sword and replace the habaki on this beautiful horimono Quote
Ray Singer Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 This is a copy of the famous Koryu Kagemitsu. Almost all copies of this sword are done to emulate its current suriage form, in which the dragon horimono peeks over the top of the habaki. 7 Quote

Ray Singer Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 By contrast, this is an utushi of Koryu Kagemitsu as it would have looked when ubu, done by one of Yoshindo's students Ohno Yoshimitsu: http://www.seiyudo.com/ka-030212.htm 2 Quote

Blasphemy, I know, but the heart likes what the heart likes and comparing these blades help to show why. 4 Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 Blasphemy, I know, but the heart likes what the heart likes and comparing these blades help to show why. Nope, no blasphemy in my opinion. We are at least two with the same feeling. 1 Quote
