Brian Posted August 11, 2017 Report Posted August 11, 2017 Not a sure thing (I don't have the money anyways) but just putting out feelers.A friend here has 2 desirable custom knives that I am really, really after as they have SA history. He's kinda set on a Japanese sword, and decided he wouldn't mind a longish wakizashi in average fittings. Polish should be ok..enough to see and appreciate. Era isn't critical, but maybe a Shinto.Other than that, no real requirements, although signed (gimei or not) would be an advantage.just trying to get a rough idea of what I would be looking at for something in this range. Can start some fund raising.Length isn't critical, but over 50cm an advantage. Handachi maybe?Who has some good deals?
dominnimod Posted August 11, 2017 Report Posted August 11, 2017 Alaen in the forum is selling a cheapo of 250, Shinto, mumei, some little rust in the kissaki and you will need to add a tsuba, but its cheap, He is in Florida, so maybe shipping is a problem,
Brian Posted August 11, 2017 Author Report Posted August 11, 2017 Wakizashi is a steal. But needs work, and no-one here qualified. Plus the logistics of completing it would raise the price, and I think I need to find him something a little better anyways. Maybe around $750 to $1000 tops.
Stephen Posted August 12, 2017 Report Posted August 12, 2017 tell him to bite the bullet and pop for extra cash http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/23257-omi-daijo-tadahiro-wakizashi-in-koshirae/
Brian Posted August 12, 2017 Author Report Posted August 12, 2017 Would be wasted on him. He is a total amateur looking for something to look at. And don't think he'll add any funds. At the current exchange rate to the $, waaay out of my pricerange.
