It has 2 hagire. No-one here is going to recommend a sword with fatal flaws unless it is really cheap and you are going to use it to study something. But at over $1000..do you want a fatally flawed blade with no real resale possibilities?

Hi,

I actually contacted the seller when it was around $400 - I thought it might be worth while cutting it down....the seller told me that the two hagire are just one inch behind the yokote - well that wouldn't work then anyway....

Please ignore my lack of knowledge but what can one do with a sword that has such fatal flaws right at the yokote (not somewhere close to the habaki) - the bits are close to $1200 now?

Regards,

Jock,

If the mei is shoshin (no idea) and the cutting test is genuine, then I guess some would want it as an example and a study piece. You can still see everything the sword has to show, just it is not a functional item anymore. I guess if you have the money, it is a neat discussion piece. But what it is worth depends on how much extra cash you have lying around

We are very far from hizen school features (konuka hada etc...) i don't think there's something interesting to study on this blade except learning kizu and what is a tired blade. Too expensive for this. :steamed:
