vajo Posted June 28, 2017 Report Posted June 28, 2017 Hello. The sukashi on this tsuba shows a motif i can't identify. Is it a kamon, maybe Oniwa clan or a radish? Or something different? What you think? Tetsu tsuba with 6,8 cm, 0,2 cm mimi and 0,3 cm at the seppa dai. Quote
rkg Posted June 28, 2017 Report Posted June 28, 2017 I think that's an eggplant, but could be a mon, I've never checked the Mon book for that - interesting. I had piece with a similar implementation up for sale earlier: http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/22591-closet-cleaning-sale/ Best, rkg (Richard George) 1 Quote
Henry Wilson Posted June 28, 2017 Report Posted June 28, 2017 It could be an esoteric Buddhist symbol hinting at a temple Keman 華鬘, like the one below: 1 Quote

vajo Posted June 29, 2017 Author Report Posted June 29, 2017 Its my thought to the eggplant idea.Eggplants were a symbol for richness. Or the term nasu stand for achieving something great?Eggplants were also favorites of Ieyasu. I belive now the design of this tosho style tsuba from ca. early edo period shows a eggplant. Thank you for the help. 2 Quote
