Davidarmy Posted June 19, 2017 Report Posted June 19, 2017 Looking for any examples of the following sword smith... NOBUTAKA (信高), 7th gen., Tenmei (天明, 1781-1789), Owari – “Kitsui Shirō Nobutaka” (橘井四郎信高), real name Kitsui Shirō (橘井四郎), he also bore the first name Ihei (猪平) and died in the eighth month Kansei ten (寛政, 1798) Thanks in advance! Davidarmy Posted June 20, 2017 Author Report Posted June 20, 2017 Admin, please take down. I might have the only example of this smith around. Quote
Ray Singer Posted June 20, 2017 Report Posted June 20, 2017 Andy calls these hachidai, but they fit in your specified time range. http://www.nihonto.us/NOBUTAKA%20WAKIZASHI%20FG.htm http://www.nihonto.us/NOBUTAKA%20KATANA%20FG.htm http://www.nihonto.us/NOBUTAKA%20TANTO%20FG.htm 1 Quote
Davidarmy Posted June 20, 2017 Author Report Posted June 20, 2017 I have encountered plenty from the 8th GEN and even some from the 6th but never any from the 7th Quote
Brian Posted June 21, 2017 Report Posted June 21, 2017 No need to take it down...you never know what might turn up oneday when some random guy is searching the forum for Nobutaka Quote
Jaron Posted August 7, 2022 Report Posted August 7, 2022 And here is your random guy 5 years later. I am at the NCJSC annual sword show and there is a 2022 Shinsa as well. I submitted my Wakizashi and it passed. It is a Mumei but they attributed it to late generation Nobataka, pointing to 8th generation, 1789-1801. A big surprise from what I thought it was. There was also mention here of there not being any existing work done by 7th generation out there. That's what I have been told up until now. Now the research begins. If Davidarmy happens to see this all this time later, let me know if I can help with anything. Quote
