PhoenixDude Posted May 24, 2017 Report Posted May 24, 2017 Saw this for auction and fell in love with it. its 8.3cm diameter, gold and silver onlay on iron. Can anyone tell me what school and time period it is from? 1 Quote
Alex A Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 Tsuba dont look too old, mid-late 1800,s maybe, crisp edges around Hitsu-ana, general look of the iron. My eyesights not brilliant, but get the impression its not inlay (so to speak) but gold and silver colour surface decoration added at a later date, to spice up a plain tsuba . Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in with a better answer, you did say "anyone" ? Best Quote
MauroP Posted May 25, 2017 Report Posted May 25, 2017 A phenix in plain kin-nunome-zōgan. Possibly Kyō-kenjō, late Edo. Just my not-so-educated opinion. Bye, Mauro 4 Quote
