Krystian Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 Hello, I am new to this forum so I would like to start with saying hello to everyone. Could you help me with origin and authenticity of this tsuba? It looks a bit like heianjo but I could not find photo of any similar one. Also the brass inlay looks a bit strange to me (almost like it was made recently). Could you offer some help? Thank you in advance. Krystian Quote
Stefan Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 At a first glance I would say modern repro ? Stefan Quote
Krystian Posted April 27, 2017 Author Report Posted April 27, 2017 That is what I was afraid of:( It still looks quite nice though:) Thanks, Krystian Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 Welcome to the forum, Krystian. I doubt it's Heianjo - the design just doesn't fit - & there's something definitely strange-looking about the tsuba, although I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe artificially aged, or something similar? Ken 1 Quote
raaay Posted April 28, 2017 Report Posted April 28, 2017 I think if it was a modern / repro Tsuba as suggested why would you distress in such away, that politely no one would want bye it and pay for the restoration costs when there is so many Tsuba around that you could acquire in better condition IMHO. it looks to me if it has been underground or in a fire or both then someone has cleaned it up, but I'm probably wrong ! 1 Quote
